Beth Anne West, also known as Elizabeth, has a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and over 40 years of experience teaching and playing classical flute.  After beginning to play in elementary school, she studied as a scholarship student with clarinetist and flutist Herbert Tichman, first at Julliard, and then Manhattan preparatory schools. She studied with Andrew Lolya, Thomas Nyfenger and John Solumn.  She studied both modern & baroque flute with Robert Willoughby at Oberlin. She has most recently studied and fiddled around a bit on viola da gama with teacher Jane Hershey.  Beth Anne began her orchestral playing in her teens with the Long Island (New York) Youth Orchestra.  She played in the chamber and college orchestras at Oberlin, being selected as a finalist in Oberlin's concerto competition in her senior year. Although Beth Anne has only been teaching and playing in the Keene area in the last 4 years, her 40 years of teaching experience ranges from instructing beginning flutists into advanced.  She was a flute teaching assistant to James Pellerite and Kenton Terry at the college level at Indiana University at Bloomington for a year after graduating Oberlin, teaching flutists at the college level.  She has been the flute instructor at Keene Community Music Center since 2009.  She feels privileged to also join her fellow musicians and teachers here at Elm City Music.  You can contact Beth Anne at
