Carmen Buckley Reynolds received a BA in flute performance from the University of Maine at Orono in 1992. She has attended master classes with Paula Robison, Robert Dick, Julius Baker, Kay Gardner, Chris Norman, Seamus Egan and Paige Dashner Long. Carmen has taught flute, recorder and music theory in Waldorf schools, taught privately, and performed as a freelance musician throughout New England for the past twenty years. In New Hampshire she has performed with the Keene Chamber Orchestra, Monadnock Flutes and the Keene State College Flute Ensemble. In addition to teaching and performing, she continues to study and practice the low flutes of the flute family, the alto and bass, the traditional wooden flute and the bansuri flute. Beth Anne West, also known as Elizabeth, has a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and over 40 years of experience teaching and playing classical flute. After beginning to play in elementary school, she studied as a scholarship student with clarinetist and flutist Herbert Tichman, first at Julliard, and then Manhattan preparatory schools. She studied with Andrew Lolya, Thomas Nyfenger and John Solumn. She studied both modern & baroque flute with Robert Willoughby at Oberlin. She has most recently studied and fiddled around a bit on viola da gama with teacher Jane Hershey. Beth Anne began her orchestral playing in her teens with the Long Island (New York) Youth Orchestra. She played in the chamber and college orchestras at Oberlin, being selected as a finalist in Oberlin's concerto competition in her senior year. Although Beth Anne has only been teaching and playing in the Keene area in the last 4 years, her 40 years of teaching experience ranges from instructing beginning flutists into advanced. She was a flute teaching assistant to James Pellerite and Kenton Terry at the college level at Indiana University at Bloomington for a year after graduating Oberlin, teaching flutists at the college level. She has been the flute instructor at Keene Community Music Center since 2009. She feels privileged to also join her fellow musicians and teachers here at Elm City Music.
